American Bittern by Mark Schwall

There is an American Bittern hiding somewhere in this photo. Can you find it?

Mark Schwall found the American Bittern hiding among the reeds at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey. I must say, Mark definitely has a keen eye!

So this bird may like to blend in visually, but it has a very distinctive call. Listen to the sound of the American Bittern at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Boy, once you see him, you can't miss him. Brains are remarkable things.

Please, remember who you are talking to. Middle bottom, between the tules, head craned slightly to it's right.
