Flickr Roundup For Week Of 10/29/2010
Here are some of the new additions to the Burdr Flickr group for the week of October 29th, 2010.
When I first saw the Sunset Wader photo above by Mike Forsman, the color really struck me. My eye was drawn first to the bird then I moved up the photo to through the waves to the horizon. This is where I spotted the man made object.
Mike explains:
What you see in the background is an oil rig/platform. This one is “Platform Gina,” about four miles (6.5 KM) from our beach. You can also see Anacapa Island behind the rig, the closest of the Islands that make up the Channel Islands National Monument. It’s 11 miles (about 18K) from the coast.
For me, the fragile beauty of the photo is made so much more clear to me with the oil rig off in the distance. Great job Mike!
Also, if you click the photo and visit the Flickr page, you’ll see a map on the right hand side. Mike added the photo’s location so we could all see where he took it!
Susan from the blog called The Nature of Framingham had a very special visitor. Her first Evening Grosbeak in 30 years! You can see the photo of the beautiful bird she added to the Burdr Flickr group below. Definitely click through and congratulate her!
Thanks again to all the very talented photographers that have added their photos to the group!
