Common Yellowthroat Visits Portugal
A Common Yellowthroat was netted and ringed in Vilamoura Monday, October 18th, making it the first passerine from across the Atlantic to be found on mainland Portugal!
Normally, these birds are found throughout North America. The Common Yellowthroat in the photo above is an adult male. You can tell by the dark black marking on the face of the bird. The Common Yellowthroat that was found in Portugal was an immature male that had not yet developed the dark facial markings. The younger males tend to look more like the females.
