Flickr Roundup For Week Of 7/2/2010
Reed Alert! It’s time for a roundup of some of the new photos that have been added to the Burdr Flickr group this past week.
Love the title to the above photo by Flickr user gseloff!
Click on the first two photos below to see what each bird is carrying! The Broad-tailed Hummingbird in the photo by Flickr user michael morrison almost looks like it’s drinking from a pool of gold! Look carefully at the photo of the Antillean Nighthawk by Flickr user Lucas Limonta, you might see something sitting next to it!
Hmmm… maybe that Cattle Egret should change its name to Deer Egret?
All of the birds in these photos are absolutely beautiful and very fragile. For example, the Rusty Blackbird in the photo by Flickr user Mudhen2 has experienced a huge decline in numbers. According to the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center:
Rusty Blackbird populations have fallen steeply, with estimates of an 85-99% population drop over the past 40 years. Although no one knows the cause for this alarming decline, winter habitat loss and degradation are likely candidates.
For more information about this, read the article called the Decline of the Rusty Blackbird.
If you like any of the photos in this week’s Burdr Flickr Roundup and you’re a member to Flickr, be sure click through to visit the photo page and leave a comment for the photographer!
Thanks again to all the very talented photographers that have added their photos to the group!
