Inside Fort Jackson Wildlife Rehabilitaion Center
C-SPAN visits the Fort Jackson Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Louisiana to give us a better understanding of what is happening there to rehabilitate birds affected by the oil spill.
In the video, you’ll hear from Jay Holcomb, the Executive Director of the International Bird Rescue Research Center (IBRRC) and Heather Nevill, a veterinarian working with the IBRRC.
Jay Holcomb mentions that they use Dawn dishwashing liquid to help remove the oil from the birds. For more information about how Dawn became the primary tool for cleaning oil from wildlife, see our previous article called History Lesson: Birds and Dawn. In it you’ll find a video where Jay discusses the topic in more detail.
