Nuthatch in the hand from Hakodate Birding video

Recently, the Hakodate Birding blog posted a short but cute video of a Nuthatch eating out of someone’s hand!

If your wondering why this Nuthatch looks a little different from the ones you may have seen in your backyard, it’s because the video was taken in the Onuma District which is located in Fukushima, Japan. The Wikipedia entry for the Nuthatch has a great species list so you can see them all. Amazing how may different types of Nuthatches there are!

I’ve never had any luck trying to hand feed a bird. Have you?
