Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill On 60 Minutes
As I watch the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and the effects it’s having on the environment, wildlife and the birds I love, I just want to know how did this all happen? Well, CBS is here to help!
The CBS television show 60 Minutes aired a piece Sunday evening on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Scott Pelley from 60 minutes interviewed Mike Williams who worked on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. He was the Chief Electronics Technician in charge of the Deepwater Horizon’s electronics and computer systems. He was one of the very last crew members to escape.
Mike describes the events leading up to the disaster and his emotional escape from the burning oil rig. He goes on to explain that it was a series of mishaps over previous weeks that led up to and directly contributed to the disaster we all see today.
Definitely worth watching. Mike revealed a different side to the story that I had not heard before. Let us know your thoughts, feelings and opinions in the comments below! Would love to hear what you have to say about all if this!
Albert Andry, Dustin King, Ryan Chaisson and Westley Bourg were fishing near the Deepwater Horizon oil rig as the blowout began. They describe their experiences to 60 Minutes in the video below. Ryan started videotaping the disaster shortly after it all started.
