Behind The Scenes Of Hummingbirds: Magic In The Air

Submitted by on January 9, 2010 – 10:27 pm4 Comments

If you like hummingbirds, you have got to see this behind the scenes footage of a new Nature episode called Hummingbirds: Magic In The Air.

I simply can’t wait to see this!

We all have preconceived ideas about what hummingbirds’ lives are like, but so much of their world is imperceptible to the human eye. Filmmaker Ann Prum describes the breakthrough science and latest technologies that allowed her and the crew to reveal incredible new insights about these aerial athletes.

Using a brand new Phantom high speed high definition camera, she was able to film the hummingbirds between 200 and 500 frames per second! She also attached a borescope to the camera to get a unique flower’s eye view of some of the birds. Armed with this new technology and a lot of patience, Pam and her team was able to create an intimate view of the hummingbird’s world.

I’m not going to miss this one! Hummingbirds: Magic In The Air premieres on PBS Sunday, January 10th.
