Albino Crow

Submitted by on October 6, 2009 – 6:03 amNo Comment

Meet Shaki, an albino crow from India. Now Albinism in birds is extremely rare. It is characterized by a total or partial lack of melanin pigment. Leucism is similar to albinism but it is a reduction in all types of skin pigmentation not just melanin.

Seventeen year old Shalan found the rare bird while out looking for work one morning. The bird was being attacked by black crows until Shalan stepped in to rescue it. Shalan took the bird home and named it Shaki which means companion. Since then hundreds of people have come to see it.

Many of the locals believe that Shaki is a divine gift. I’m willing to say that ALL living things big and small are a divine gift! Who’s with me on this?
